Dr. Olukayode Akinlade graduated from the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos in March 1977. He underwent his mandatory one-year Housemanship at Adeoyo State Hospital, Ibadan and thereafter served in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for his National Youth Service. He returned to Lagos to work at the Nigerian Ports Authority Medical Clinic, Bose Specialist Hospital, JuliSam Clinic and St Emmanuel Hospital between 1979 and 1986 before establishing his own private hospital known as KROWN HOSPITAL located in Alimosho axis of Lagos.

Dr. Akinlade is an ardent believer in the need for a reform of our health systems through interventions that will bring about rapid improvement in the deplorable health situation in Nigeria at all levels. He was a member of the Lagos State Health Reform Committee.
He has been closely involved in Healthcare Management, Administration, Hospital Design and Equipment profiling of health institutions at various levels of healthcare. He has travelled extensively to various parts of the world on medical and health related matters and he is very current in technological advances in the medical world spanning various specialities or disciplines of medicine.
Dr. Akinlade was a past Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Lagos State Branch in 2002 and subsequently served as the Secretary-General of the Association in 2004. Those were monumental years in the annals of the medical profession in Nigeria.
He served the nation in various capacities as member of the Governing Boards of the Federal Neuro Psychiatry Hospital, Yaba, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Council member of the Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) at various times. He was Co-Chairman on the Review of the Operational Guidelines that berthed the National Health Insurance Scheme launched in June 2005. He served as a member of the Management Board of Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo and Federal Medical Centre, Owo. He chaired the Governing Board of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti up till 2014.
Currently he is a Technical Consultant to Afe Babalola University Multisystem Hospital, Ado Ekiti where he supervised the construction, equipping and provision of first-class clinical services of international standards at the hospital.
He is married with children and grandchildren. Dr. Akinlade is a committed Rotarian, an organization he once served as President and then the Assistant Governor many years ago.
